NEW YORK (AP) — A summit of U.S. Muslim organizations is planned for Saturday and Sunday in New York City to address both the project and a rise in anti-Muslim sentiments and rhetoric that has accompanied the debate over the project.
It has yet to be seen whether the group will emerge with a firm stand on the proposed community center, dubbed Park51. The primary purpose of the two-day meeting is to talk about ways to combat religious bigotry.

Maybe a good place to start in combating religious bigotry is for the followers of Islam to stop acting like religious bigots.
Their attempt to shift the blame, to accuse Americans who simply want to protect their way of life from the toxic influence of a “religion” that teaches religious bigotry – that offends me. But I wouldn’t dream of hurting anyone over it, threatening to hurt anyone, or even shouting at anyone.
How about this: Do followers of Islam really want to show us that they are committed to fighting religious bigotry?
Then take out the parts of the Koran that incite hate and violence and religious bigotry. That would be a good place to start, but it’s not likely to happen. It hasn’t happened in hundreds of years, we probably won’t see it happen in our lifetime – because anyone who tries is killed.
How’s that for tolerance?
This is why Americans do not want Islam in our country. In small numbers it is a tolerable irritation. In large numbers Islam is a deadly threat to religious freedom.
Look at the track record: all around the world, anywhere that Islam has gained control, it oppresses and persecutes other religions – or people who don’t care for religion at all.
The “rise in anti-Muslim sentiments and rhetoric” is there because Americans are finally starting to learn what Islam actually teaches, and they are beginning to see it for the hateful, intolerant ideology it is.
And they resent being lied to, right to their faces.
“Religion of Peace” – give me a break.
If they Muslim leaders are truly sincere about fighting religious bigotry, they should stop doing things like threatening to kill cartoonists in Seattle.
Followers of Islam should stop cutting off the heads of Indonesian school girls simply because they are non-Muslim (Cutting off girls’ heads: how is that for religious bigotry? Makes rejecting a mosque look like nothing.).
Maybe followers of Islam should stop insulting us by telling us we are bigots for not wanting their racist, intolerant, hateful religion in our cities. It offends us.
“Their faith is under assault”?! The bold-faced arrogance, the shameless smearing of the truth is astounding. Islam is not under assault. Yes, people are reacting against it, not because they are religious bigots, but because they value religious freedom – and the quietly growing power and influence of Islam threatens that freedom.
The threats of Islam are not mere words but backed with a consistent pattern of violent, brutal attacks and the suppression of anyone who opposes them.
Who is under assault here? In countries where the numbers of Muslims have grown to where they are in control, anyone who does not accept the Islamic faith, that is who is under assault! And yet anyone who objects to the growth of this violent ideology is accused of being a religious bigot?
That, dear readers, is an assault. When people are verbally attacked for rejecting a violent system, when they are libeled, called “bigots”, that is an assault.
“Religious Bigotry”? It would be laughable if so many gullible Americans were not falling for it and stumbling all over themselves to appease these bullies.
Let’s take a peek at the latest activities – just over the past couple of days – of the followers of Islam, this “religion of peace”, this hotbed of religious bigotry, that is trying to talk us into letting it grow in our society:

Here’s a suggestion for the leaders of Islam: plan a summit of U.S. Muslim organizations to fundamentally change the violent nature and teachings of Islam. Or plan an orderly exodus of Muslims from the US back to Islamic nations where they will feel more comfortable.
