Not all Muslims are terrorists.
There are good people, fine, noble human beings, who are Muslim.
This does not mean that the teachings of Islam must be accepted as “peaceful” but it does mean that we have a responsibility to not hate people, to treat all people with respect – even if we disagree strongly with their religion.
We can disagree, even disagree strongly, and not hate people. That doesn’t mean we have to become doormats, passive weaklings that let others dominate. Do not mistake kindness for weakness. We can firmly hold others to the high standards of freedom and tolerance – but we do not have to tolerate those who dominate others and spread intolerance.
