Mohamed Osman Mohamud, American citizen, from Somalia
“A Somali-born U.S. citizen was arrested yesterday after attempting to blow up a van full of explosives at a crowded Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland, Oregon.
Yelling ‘Allahu Akbar!’ – Arabic for ‘God is great!’ – Mohamed Osman Mohamud tried to kick agents and police as they went to arrest him, according to prosecutors.
He was held after he had just dialed a mobile phone that he thought would blow up the van.
‘This defendant’s chilling determination is a stark reminder that there are people – even here in Oregon – who are determined to kill Americans,’ said U.S. Attorney Dwight Holton.”
We are all so very shocked. How could this happen? A Muslim try to kill non-Muslims? But, Islam is a religion of peace, right? What will it take for us to see what is going on right under our noses?
Was this young man grateful for the new life the US offered him? Did he join our society? Or did he attend a mosque where he was taught to hate and kill non-Muslims?
He was expressing his religious freedom.
How long are we going to welcome enemies into our society, let them proliferate, under the guise of “freedom of religion”?
